This pair of Mid-Century Modern 'Sling' chairs, model '248' was designed by Australian-American designer and sculptor Clement Meadmore in 1963 for Leif Wessman Associates, New York. The chairs feature a flat bar chrome frame with smooth camel color patinated leather upholstery that cradles your body as you sit. The seat and back upholstery is one sewn leather piece that slips on to the frame of the chair and can be removed easily. The same year he designed the Sling chair, Meadmore moved from Melbourne to New York City where he focused on large scale sculpture. One of Meadmore's Sling chairs is the Museum of Modern Art's Design collection.
Good original condition. Some wear to the leather as shown which gives it a nice patina.
