Pair of customized, art deco nightstands or end tables designed by Gilbert Rohde feature rounded edges typical of his streamlined American moderne designs. These satinwood nighstands are clad in faux shagreen textured tan leather with contrasting blush taupe lacquered tops and bases. The original radiating concentric circle brass handles open the bottom drawer and top cabinet portion.
Gilbert Rohde (1894–1944), whose career as a furniture and industrial designer helped to define American modernism is best known today for inaugurating modern design at Herman Miller Inc.
