This painted dinosaur wood cut-out with wooden base was made by the American Folk artist Howard Finster. The back has been numbered 3500, dated June 29, 1993, and signed by the artist. Finster was a Baptist minister turned self-taught artist who became extremely well-known for album covers he designed for artists like R.E.M and Talking Heads. The Talking Heads album design, "Little Creatures", was selected by Rolling Stone magazine as album of the year. Finster's work is featured in the Library of Congress's American Folklife Center, the Whitney Museum, the American Folk Art Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Atlanta's High Museum of Art, among others.
