Bentwood armchair designed by Czech furniture designer Jaroslav Smidek for Ton features a bent beech wood frame and muted blue green tweed upholstery.
Smidek learned furniture design from his father while working in the family workshop. He designed the model 53 bentwood chair to be shown at the Brussels World Fair in 1958. The Model 53 armchairs were manufactured by Ton from the 1950s to 1960s.
