Rare, mid-Century Modern, birch veneer and cast aluminum school desk designed by English designer James W. Leonard features a flip top with interior storage. Manufactured by the Education Supply Association (Esavian Ltd), with the ESA mark cast on the desk support. Leonard is one of many well-recognized designers to produce designs to be sold through the modern furniture company Knoll Associates, this desk among them. The original Knoll sticker remains on the underside. Leonard’s designs have been collected and displayed in museums such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
