This jugenstil, art nouveau maple bentwood wall coatrack was designed by the Austrian furniture company Thonet, originally called Gebrüder Thonet or Thonet Brothers, a family owned business founded in the mid 19th-century. The Thonet family is famous in design history for being the first to make bentwood furniture on an industrial scale. The company still continues under the name Thonet.
This antique coatrack is a perfect example of the Thonet family's pioneering technique of steam-bending beechwood into metal moulds to create curvilinear elements. The elegant and utilitarian wall rack features 5 double hooks to keep your entryway organized in the most beautiful way. The Thonet stamp is on the back.
